2022 Sagrantino (bottle shot coming soon!)

CCOF Certified Organic Sagrantino, Dry Creek Valley.

Sagrantino is one of the world’s rarest grapes, originally hailing from the Umbrian village of Montefalco. These beauties are farmed organically on the western slopes of Dry Creek Valley by the owners of a cult cosmetic company called Juice Beauty.

Harvested on September 12th, destemmed and fermented in an open-top oak tank for 13 days with gentle manual punchdowns. Wine was taken off skins a few days before dryness to moderate the color and tannin profile, then aged in neutral oak puncheons and bottled unfined and unfiltered in June 2025. Italian Sagrantino di Montefalco is traditionally aged for a full 37 months before release, and due to a combination of patience (waited until the tannis were fully baked) and path-of-least-resistance (did I mention I have three kids?) this one isn’t far off!

Label artwork by Antoinette von Grone, whose ethos aligns with my own: “The basis of my work lies in my need for beauty, a strong sense of humor and whimsy, and my enduring love for the environment and animals.”

5% of sales donated to Corazon Healdsburg.

75 cases produced. 14.7% ABV.

Juice Beauty grows Sagrantino for use in their organic skincare line, with only a small portion reserved for making wine, and I was really lucky to get my hands on it.
