Hi there! I’m Kaitlin Childers, Founder of Camp Rose Cellars.
I have worked in the wine industry for over a decade in various capacities, mostly sales and hospitality with a few brief stints in production and vineyard management. I spent several years living and working in New Zealand and love the high-acid, low alcohol styles that are common in the Southern Hemisphere.
Then I returned to the US and had a kid. And another. And I found that rich, high alcohol wines were not for me, not anymore. When I did have time to enjoy a glass of wine I gravitated toward low alcohol acid-driven whites, plump rosés and unconventional red blends. Wines I could savor while feeding babies and changing diapers.
Becoming a mom also required me to have more flexibility. I didn’t want a corporate full-time wine job and I also increasingly felt the need to work with other women. As the ongoing scandal around the Master Court confirms: wine is a beautiful but f*cked up industry, and I decided that the only way I can stay in it is to do it for myself and work with women like Alice Sutro.
So here I am, making wines that I want to drink, in a way that feels right to me. I hope you like them too.
